Many things were going on this week in ISM. I prepared for my speech for a very long time and was having time management issues. The problem was that I was going overtime because my research assessments took a long time to talk about. I solved this issue by combining some of them into one because they shared a common idea. Later during the week, I gave my Research Speech Presentation and did very well. I accomplished the time I wanted to make and made everyone laugh. Furthermore, my presentation effectively informed my audience which was my main goal because Intellectual Property is new to them. Unfortunately, I did fidget a lot with the clicker which I didn’t realize until my friends told me. I can always improve on my presentational skills and will keep my fidgeting habits in my mind before my next presentation. Another thing that I worked on this week was my Display Board plan. My Display Board is very important because the better it looks, the more people it will attract during our showcases. I would consider myself successful in creating a board that represents the law field very well. My mentor told me to stay simple as a lawyer for my resume, and so I used that same concept while creating my board. Finally, I worked on my Research Assessment which talked about Post-Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank. learned a lot about the proceedings and the step-by-step process the examiners used to evaluated Alice. One of the processes was the two-part Mayo test which was comprised of abstract ideas and preemption aspects. I had many questions arise while reading this article: How do you become a patent examiner for the USPTO? How was the two-part Mayo test created? I plan on heavily working on my Original Work to gain more knowledge on Alice as well as starting to compromise all of my research into one document.
