An Eventful Week

A very eventful week indeed. I finished my second Interview Assessment which was a bit difficult. My notes were all over the place because the attorney who I interviewed talked very fast so I had trouble keeping up with his speed. Once I realized how fast he was talking, I asked him if I could record our conversation for future reference. This allowed me to go back, listen to our conversation, and redo my notes in a sophisticated manner. Moreover, this resulted in me receiving great advice I never noticed during the actual interview. I do still have many questions about the aspects of Intellectual Property law that are a lot less common such as trade secrets or copyrights. How are trade secrets assessed and hidden from the public? Do they have any correlation with confidential agreements? I also completed my Original Work Proposal which took a lot of hard work. I learned how intricate this proposal was and how there were a lot of steps involved in creating a great “manual”. I had a general idea of my plan in achieving a great Intellectual Property proposal, however, I had a lot of trouble working out how I would incorporate the engineering aspect of IP Law. I came to the conclusion that I should just focus on generic guidelines because the engineering part should be addressed with an attorney anyway. I also talked to a lawyer about my idea and he said that he would even use that the proposal I create because patent eligibility is very confusing to many people. This was great to hear because our main goal is to create something that the workforce can use. My idea has great potential and I am very excited to start working on it. Next week, I need to call my lawyer and schedule a time to sit with him to go over the Frisco ISD Mentor Handbook. I also plan on working on my Original Work by reading through prior proposals made by big organizations. I still need to learn more about why the law is so confusing and I will gain an understanding of this problem by reading articles and communicating with lawyers.
