Consultation Interview

An amazing week has gone by and I am one step closer to achieving my goals. I completed my annotated bibliography and conducted a consultation meeting with my client. The bibliography was essential because it allowed me to expand my learning on piezoelectrics, wearable tech history, patent application components, etc. I learned more about how a prior art search is completed. A prior art search is completed by searching up key words in regards to the invention to see what is already out in the market or using databases to assess the different inventions in the field. This information is critical to the growth of my final product as I will conduct a prior art search after understanding the invention. This knowledge is required in the creation of my final product because I will address this component of the shoe in my drawings, written description, and possibly the claims. Continuing forward with this week, I had a meeting with the inventor in regards to his wearable tech invention. I asked him a multitude of questions regarding what problem he was trying to solve, how the technology was built, and a high-level summary of how the shoe functions. During this interview, I was facing problems with understanding how his shoe was functioning of my lack of knowledge with electrical engineering. However, I overcame this problem by asking the inventor more questions to gain a deeper understanding of the invention. The invention had multiple contributors to the electrical design within the sole. Therefore, I will have to get in contact with a few and ask questions in regards to the technical side. Overall, I would consider the meeting successful as I now have a decent understanding of his invention and can start with the claims now. A few questions have arisen this week: How do I write a proper claim? How do I describe the technology in the written description? I need to start working on creating the invention’s claims and contacting a few more people. I also need to start researching more about hand-drawings that I will create for the patent application. I have discovered that I should start researching more about piezoelectrics because it will aid me in understanding his invention further. In conclusion, I have to get the best understanding of his model to create the best patent application.
