I have learned a lot this past week. I met another attorney and the meeting went great.
I had a lot of struggles in finding his office, thankfully though, the building’s receptionist was of great assistance. The attorney was very nice to me and eager to hear what questions I had about his field. I have a lot of respect for him because everything he said was very genuine and he was happy to go into specific details about the questions I had. In my prior informational interview, I wasn’t able to get my questions answered about college and law school because the attorney didn’t study in America. However, this attorney gave me great advice as to what I should study and potential universities I should consider. My communication skills were great and our conversation never stopped. I have discovered the importance of my major in college because I need to follow a science major in order to take the bar exam. I do have a lot of questions about which other science courses I can take and which majors would set me up for success with the litigation field. I also wrote my topic proposal near the end of the week which goes into further detail into what I want to pursue and the reasons it is an appropriate choice for me. It was very exciting writing about my background because I have no doubts in my mind about Intelectual Property. The area is so broad and covers so many aspects of the law field which I can’t wait to get real-world experience on. I am also attending the Dallas Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law Section’s 25th Anniversary celebration at the Belo Mansion in Downtown Dallas in which I will meet many lawyers and improve my networking skills. I also have Business Symposium this week and I need to prepare some general questions for any professional.
