Knowledge keeps getting thrown at me and I am trying so hard to retain all of it. It was a hardcore research week and there many unknown terms thrown at me. During my annotations, I would come across phrases such as “metabolite concentrations,” or something like “catalytic conversion variables." I was extremely confused about what I was reading about and found it very difficult to understand the main idea of the article without knowing what these terms meant. I solved this solution in a very simple way: I used google. Google provided me with a detailed analysis of what these words meant and changed my perspective on the article by a huge margin. The article was about software patents and the difficulty in becoming patent-eligible. I learned a lot about the2 part patent test called Mayo/Alice test. It evaluated patent eligibility through algorithms, tests, and providing such clarity and consistency by resetting the framework for eligibility analysis. I also found many parts of the Supreme Court cases not fully explained which confused me a lot. I wondered why the Supreme Court decided to change the Federal Circuit ruling? Questions like these helped me brainstorm ideas of how I could create original responses in a general manner for my Patent-eligibility proposal. I was very successful this week in getting my Research and Interview Assessment done. I am happy with my progress with my Original Work and plan on reading more articles next week. I also have to have my digital and paper portfolio up to date next week which will take a long time. I have learned a lot about my topic and I still need to dive further into the fundamentals of patents. I also have to acquire more knowledge on why eligibility can become so indecisive in court.
